Testosterone Enanthate: Basic information
Testosterone Enanthate is functionally the same as other forms of exogenous testosterone. It will react and be processed the same way in the body once administered, as other forms.
Namely, it will bind with select androgen receptors, change cell signaling, and lead to its renowned effects of increase lean tissue production, with protein retention and reduced tissue breakdown.
Where it differs from its counterparts is in the longer chemical delivery agent attached to it. The Enanthate delivery agent, otherwise known as an “ester”, has a half-life of approximately one week, or just over.
Meanwhile, the testosterone part of the structure has an 8-carbon length, making up the bulk of the structure, meaning this form of the hormone actually has more of the free active form of the chemical than its other counterparts, making an argument that it may be slightly more potent on a milligram per milligram basis.
As a result, this form of testosterone is favored when the overall objective of recreational or competitive users are undergoing phases of training where the key objective is an increase in size and strength over a relatively moderate period of time.
This is often why many users carry out their phase of use for periods of 12 weeks for as long as 1 year, as excessive and potentially risky as the latter timeframe may be. Nonetheless, it stands as one of the simplest, cost-effective, and well-known means of drastically boosting size and strength through accentuating lean mass gains and rate of recovery, as well as work rate through boosts in erythrocyte count and production, as well as aggression in training.
Though Testosterone is well known for its benefits in mass and force capacity increases, there are, like with any other drug, the risk of negative effects with use, especially with excessive dosing or more prolonged use, such as those mentioned above.
For this product, that means a risk of a cardiac event, with an increase in heart size, reduced blood vessel flexibility and increased stiffness, and a rise in both blood pressure and unhealthy cholesterol buildup, all present with its use.
There is also a risk of estrogen-mediated issues, such as the risk of a buildup of excessive tissue surrounding the breasts, known as gynecomastia, in male users, as well as fluid retention and adipose tissue alongside the gains in lean mass. Though this can be managed substantially with the inclusion of ancillary agents, like SERMs and Aromatase Inhibitors.
Meanwhile, androgen-mediated events like accelerated hair loss from the head in those who are genetically at-risk from such an event, as well as bouts of oily skin and acne. In female users, these issues are much more worrisome, with virilizing effects possible, such as enlargement of the clitoris, a change in facial structure, accelerated facial and body and enlargement of the vocal cords, which would elicit a deeper and hoarse voice. These can also be mediated somewhat with ancillary agents like 5-alpha-reductive inhibitors.
There will also be the reduction, or cessation, of endogenous testosterone manufacturing in male users, which will persist even after use has stopped, and has been reported to have a more permanent impact with longer bouts of use. This can lead to deficiency-related problems, and necessitates the employment of a Post Cycle Therapy regime following the end of Testosterone supplementation, in order to help recover natural production back to its pre-suppresses levels in a faster manner, while helping manage the negative effects associated with low levels in the meantime.
How and when you administer Testosterone Enanthate or otherwise, will play a large role in how effective the outcome is and minimize some adverse events associated with its administration.
The most common protocol for recreational and competitive users would be a twice weekly injection, spaced out evenly throughout the week. This would be intramuscular injections, normally administered through popular and convenient sites, such as the lateral deltoid muscle in the side of the shoulder, or the gluteal muscles in the buttocks. These sites should also be rotated and all the equipment sterile in order to ensure minimal risk of excessive site soreness or infection.
As for how much is usually taken, this would depend on factors like gender, even though females are recommended against its use, and prior experience with anabolics, as beginners will need lower amounts, due to a higher sensitivity to its effects.
Common amounts are between 250 to 500 milligrams weekly for relative beginners, and 1000 to 2000 milligrams per week for advanced or seasoned users.
Of course, individual sensitivity needs to be
taken into account, as this can change from person to person and should guide
an individual in the amount he/she is using.
